Ever + Hence started with a fairly simple idea: make something worth checking the mailbox for. Something made by an actual person, sent through the actual mail, that gives you a reason to slow down for a minute and see what’s inside.
I’m Kevin, and Ever + Hence is my little analogue corner of the world. I make monthly envelopes filled with original and found paper things, artwork, prompts, correspondence, ephemera and other bits designed to be noticed, used, altered, written on, tucked into journals, passed along or kept because you like them.
There’s also a Digital Companion each month for people who want more to print, cut, make and play with at home. Ever + Hence isn’t really a subscription box, and I’ve never been particularly interested in making it feel like one.
I think of each monthly edition more like a physical, interactive blog post. Something arrives. You open it. There are things to read, things to notice and usually something that asks you to participate instead of simply consume it. Some months will be playful. Some will be nostalgic. Some will probably get a little strange. That’s part of the point.
Why analogue?
I spend plenty of time online. You probably do too. But there is something different about receiving an object that somebody made, handled, folded, cut, stamped and put into an envelope for you.
You can’t scroll past it. Well, technically you could throw it across the room, but that seems unnecessarily dramatic. Paper has a way of hanging around. It gets tucked into books. Pinned to walls. Used as a bookmark. Written on six months later. Found again in a drawer when you’ve forgotten where it came from.
I like that. Ever + Hence is interested in that space between making something and what happens to it afterwards.
Notice something. Make something. Pass something along.
That little line has become the easiest way for me to explain what I’m trying to build here. Notice what’s around you. Make something with what you have, and when it makes sense, let some of it leave your hands.
That might mean sending somebody a note. Using the paper you’ve been saving for the mythical perfect project. Giving away something you made. Keeping a record of an ordinary day before it disappears into all the other ordinary days.
Nothing terribly complicated. Just a small push toward participating in your own life instead of documenting all of it from six inches behind a screen.

Ever + Hence is created from my studio in Nova Scotia, Canada.
The monthly editions are produced in small runs, which means things will change, experiments will happen and occasionally I’ll discover that an idea which looked brilliant at midnight was perhaps less brilliant the following morning.
You’ll see some of that in The Ever + Hence Journal, where I share stories from the studio, projects, correspondence, behind-the-scenes work and some of the thinking that ends up finding its way into the mail.
